Organic Brown Rice has many health benefits when compared to White Rice. In a study published in the "International Journal of Food Science and Nutrition", when participants ate brown rice they had lower after-meal blood-glucose levels than when they ate white rice, with a greater effect seen in participants with diabetes compared to healthy participants. This effect may be a result of higher levels of fiber, polyphenols, phytic acid and oils found in brown rice. Whole grains, like brown rice, may also lower your risk for heart disease, cancer, gastrointestinal problems and obesity.
BASIC BROWN RICE PREPARATION (makes about 6 cups) 2 cups SunOrganic Farm Organic Brown Rice / 4 cups Water. Place water in a medium saucepan with a tight fitting lid and bring to a boil over high heat. Add rinsed Organic rice and a pinch of salt if desired. Stir to incorporate, cover, and reduce the heat to low. Simmer undisturbed until the rice is tender, about 45 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit covered to steam for 10 minutes more. No peeking. Fluff with a fork and serve.
